Jakim cudem coś tak dekadenckiego stało się "hitem" wiedział chyba tylko Roger Waters, twórca tekstów do "The Dark Side...". Płyta ta była pierwszym koncept-albumem autorstwa Pink Floyd i w pewnym sensie przetarła drogę, którą podążyły kolejne ich albumy.
