Audrey The Kelly Family

Audrey was a girl inside of my classroom
She never said a word
She just sat there effectively

I've never known the story until I heard the radio
Telling about the way she took her life

Instead it's all upon the covers of the papers
About her folks and home
I guess her daddy's a drinker

Her mummy left her when she was just a tiny child
Tell me Audrey,
Was it first time you felt abandonment?

Hold on baby, don't be sorry
Cause every day has it's ups and downs
Hold on baby, there'll be sunshine
Cause every life has its stormy nights

I kept just thinking about her,
There are some things I can't recall about her arms
They had blue spots on them

I remember then I think it started to myself
Is it wrong to wonder about somebody else's problems
I was burning with that all.

Hold on baby....

One day
There she lay down at the bottoms of the river
Tell me, what crime did it take?
Sad Enders goes only one-way,
But I will pray
That someday she'll rise again

And if you're out there
I hope you can see my sorrow and pain of guilt
I never asked you how you were

But one thing I can assure you
After what is seen, what's been done,
I will open my heart for the new girl that sits next door

Hold on baby....

One day
There she lay down at the bottoms of the river
Tell me, what crime did it take?
Sad Enders goes only one-way,
But I will pray
That someday she'll rise again

And if you're out there
I hope you can see my sorrow and pain of guilt
I never asked you how you were

But one thing I can assure you
After what is seen, what's been done,
I will open my heart for the new girl that sits next door

Hold on baby....
